American Cockroaches

American cockroach adults grow to an average length of around 4 centimeters (1.6 in). They are reddish brown and have a yellowish margin on the body region behind the head. Immature cockroaches resemble adults except that they are wingless. American cockroaches generally live in moist areas, but can survive in dry areas if they have access to water. They prefer warm temperatures around 29 C (84 F) and do not tolerate cold temperatures. In residential areas, these cockroaches live in basements and sewers, and may move outdoors into yards during warm weather. Source: Wikipedia.com

Identification
American cockroaches are reddish brown in color and have a yellowish margin on their body. 1.5 to 2 inches in length.

Environment
American cockroaches usually lives in dark, damp areas such as sewers, storm drains, steam tunnels, and outdoors in landscaping and tree holes. Prefer warm, dark, humid environments in homes such as wall voids, crawl spaces, basements, utility rooms, or attics. Typically feed on decaying organic matter and a variety of other foods

Threats
American roaches are not commonly seen in homes. May move indoors during colder months seeking warmer temperatures and food through openings in the foundation. American roaches can bring disease-causing bacteria into your home that cause some common diseases such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Streptococcus.

Treatment
Granular bait formulations in attics and crawl spaces. Dust in attic and crawl spaces. Perimeter spray treatments. Perimeter granular bait treatments.
