Brown Banded Cockroaches

Brown Banded Cockroaches

Brown Banded Cockroaches is a large species of cockroach, winged, and growing to a length of 1 1/4"-1 1/2". It is dark, reddish brown in color. The insect is very similar in appearance to the American cockroach, and may often be mistaken for it. The insect can travel quickly, often darting out of sight when someone enters a room, and can fit into small cracks and under doors despite its fairly large size. It is known to be very mobile; it also has wings which allow it to be quite a capable flier. Source:

Brown-banded cockroaches are a nymph-like shape, but possess the wings of an adult. Light tan and with two lighter transverse bands running across the base of the wings and the abdomen. 1/2 to 5/8 inches long.

Does not require a close association with moisture and humidity like most common cockroach pests. Brown-banded cockroaches may be found throughout a house, usually hiding behind pictures and wall hangings.

Brown-banded cockroaches are frequently transported in furniture. Brown-banded cockroaches frequently feed on book bindings and wallpaper glue which can be extremely destructive in certain environments.
